This month, Women’s Impact Fund (WIF) launched its Nonprofit Board Leadership Training program in partnership with the Lee Institute. With 40 women in attendance, the program is off to a great start.
Andi Stevenson, representing the Lee Institute, led the group through an interesting, thoughtful and frequently humorous discussion. She was joined by a fabulous panel, Dianne Bailey of Robinson Bradshaw, Kelly Brooks of Share Charlotte and Toni Freeman of the Arts & Science Council.
Both Toni and Dianne are former chairs of WIF’s board and current members of its Board of Advisors. Kelly, a WIF member, is currently taking her Share Charlotte concept national with Share Good. The morning provided an ideal opportunity to learn new skills, hear from veteran nonprofit board members and engage with fellow members.
The introduction to Nonprofit Board service was only the first session of three. Subsequent sessions include a 3.5-hour intensive, interactive training on board basics (sold out session conducted on 2/13) and a “speed dating” event where members can network with area nonprofits looking to build board capacity (also sold out and occurring on 2/27).
WIF is delighted to offer this educational programming in furtherance of its mission to strengthen communities by maximizing women’s leadership.
