Grants

In 2018, Women’s Impact Fund (WIF) granted $505,000 to six outstanding organizations. Since 2003, WIF has invested nearly $5.5 million in 70 different programs across Mecklenburg County.

Women’s Impact Fund is a women’s collective giving philanthropic organization that serves the Charlotte Mecklenburg region. Funding for grants is made available through the annual donations of WIF members. Grants are awarded once a year in May and are selected based on a thorough internal vetting process and a final vote of the entire WIF membership. WIF also may elect to fund a Spark grant each year that is a quick response to a developing community need or initiative.

WIF seeks to fund worthy projects that have the potential for high impact and significant positive change in our community.

We welcome grant applications from nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations located in and serving Mecklenburg County.

WIF believes that a healthy, strong community requires strong programs and services in a variety of areas. WIF currently funds one grant in each of five focus areas: arts & culture, education, environment, health, and human services. Grants range from $40,000-$100,000 and may be one or two years in length.

Spark Grant

In 2018, WIF broadened its grants portfolio by adding Spark — a new grant intended to help spark positive change in our community! This grant allows us to be more agile, responsive and collaborative and adds flexibility for identifying and funding projects outside of our traditional high impact grantmaking process.
