Hurricane Helene Relief and Humanitarian Aid
By Patricia Massey Hoke, Executive Director
We are devastated by the tragedy Hurricane Helene brought to western North Carolina on Friday, September 27. I, like many of you, have family and friends in that area. If you are looking for ways to support please consider:
- The United Way of North Carolina has established a fund to help residents affected by the flooding.
- The Community Foundation of Western NC, where our sister giving circle Women For Women is housed, which has set up a special relief fund.
- The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to staff and support their hurricane shelters. You can learn more and sign up here.
- The Foundation For The Carolinas lists other various ways to support hurricane and other humanitarian disaster recovery efforts
- WFAE, our local public radio station, has a comprehensive list of many other resources which you can see here.
*Please note: This blog will be updated as we receive more information about how best to support our neighbors in western North Carolina. Check back periodically for more information.
