As we enter our 20th year, we are excited to announce a strategic initiative related to our diversity, equity, and inclusion commitment introduced in 2020, as well as progress against our new strategic plan shared at the 2023 Annual Meeting.
At our May board meeting, the 2022-2023 Board of Directors approved an additional membership dues level. In addition to our $1,300 per year option, we will pilot a $600 per year level.
The $600 level is intended for new members for whom an annual gift of $1,300 is inaccessible. All members can vote on grants and participate in leadership. A member’s giving level will only be known to WIF staff.
We ask all members to give at their highest capacity, recognizing that the higher annual donation level allows for increased funds in our collective grants pool. However, making a $1,300 annual gift is a barrier to entry for women of various backgrounds. As we reflected on equity and inclusion, we sought to address this challenge.
In addition, we recognize the richness that comes from having members with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences; it makes us a stronger organization as well as better grantmakers. Not only will we as individual members benefit, but our collective impact on the community will be strengthened.
To learn more about this initiative, please refer to the Member Dues Pilot FAQ document. If you have additional questions contact Board Chair Nikki Jarrell.
If you know of a woman who would be interested in joining at this new level, please encourage them to contact Executive Director Patricia Massey Hoke.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our collective impact here in Charlotte!
