Can you provide a brief background on yourself for those who do not know you?

I’m a Master Certified Coach and I own The Sparks Group, an executive coaching and leadership development boutique. Our team of about 30 helps leaders, teams, and organizations grow their capacity to navigate in an increasingly complex world. It’s a privilege to be allowed into leaders’ interior lives with the intent of helping.

I also teach in the coaching program at Georgetown University and serve on the board of Catawba Riverkeeper. I live in the Lake Norman area with my partner and two teenage sons. I enjoy getting out on the lake, gardening, and playing tennis. I’m also an avid traveler and take one big trip by myself every year. This year I’m doing a full transit of the Panama Canal!

What makes our purpose or mission meaningful to you?

Being a part of WIF helps me feel more connected to our community. I like that WIF is a collective and I’ve met many like-minded, amazing women. I also appreciate that we are broad, giving grants across many domains. There’s lots of opportunity to learn about, connect with, and ultimately support organizations doing all kinds of important work. WIF is a great way to get plugged into Charlotte.

What energizes/ motivates you? It can be anything from a quotation, a song, a person, a workout routine, etc.

Chappell Roan’s song Pink Pony Club is a fun ear worm right now (I saw her perform on the Grammys and she killed it!) Scott Turow is one of my favorite authors, and I just plowed through his latest book, Presumed Guilty.

What are you the most excited about for this year?

My oldest son graduates from high school this year and heads off to Appalachian State this Fall. I’m excited, happy, sad…feeling all the feelings. I think he wants me to stop hugging him all the time. 😉

Join a committee! And try to do at least one year on Grants. Understanding everything that goes into getting to a grant recommendation is eye-opening.

What is your favorite restaurant or activity in Charlotte?

My partner, Jay, is the General Manager of the new Jon Dressler restaurant, Dogwood, inside the Westin hotel in Uptown. I’m biased, but it’s terrific. The space is gorgeous and the food and drinks are delicious.  Go check it out!
