Joelle Dugue shares advice on making the most out of WIF by knowing your WHY and what makes WIF special to her.

Can you provide a brief background on yourself for those who do not know you? I am Joelle Dugue from Brooklyn, NYC. I am a first-generation Haitian American. I am a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. I have a passion for Public Health, specifically for removing barriers to access to care. I pursue my passion through my work as an Executive Director for Village Heartbeat Inc.

What makes our purpose or mission meaningful to you? WIF strengthens communities through collective giving, education, and engagement and as a Christian, I embodied the same values. I grew up tithing, giving offerings, and volunteering and WIF is an extension of my faith in action.

What energizes/ motivates you? It can be anything from a quotation, a song, a person, a workout routine, etc. “When they go low, we go high” coined by Michelle Obama

What were you the most excited about for the 20th anniversary year? As a first-year member, I was excited about learning about the journey of WIF and the incredible women who came together to create it. I was also excited about serving on the Signature Events Committee where I got to plan and create meaningful experiences for both members and non-members.

Advice to make the most out of your Women’s Impact Fund membership? To make the most out of WIF, I would say know your WHY. I joined WIF to connect with like-minded women (Professional women with a passion for their community).
