Joy Marshall has been a member of Women’s Impact Fund since 2014. Her prior involvement includes work on the Grants committee, the Strategic Planning committee, and the Membership Committee. Currently, she is chair of the Member Education Committee which enables her the opportunity to pursue her passion for lifetime learning and making a difference. For Joy, an incredible benefit of WIF is meeting and working with creative, smart, and passionate women whom she may have never met outside of the WIF organization.

Joy was lucky enough to have been born in Charleston, S.C., growing up with two other sisters as a middle child with a 14-month age gap from her older sister whom she claims still knows more than she does! She is proud to call herself a University of Virginia Wahoo and rowed as a Bad News Bear on the varsity crew team during undergrad where she completed a degree in Renaissance Studies. She continued her education in the evenings pursuing her Master of Business Administration. The majority of Joy’s career has been spent in digital product development within the financial services vertical. Inside that space, she enjoyed bringing order to chaos by building solutions at the intersection of consumers and technology. Ten years ago, Joy left her corporate life to pursue twin degrees from Johnson and Wales in Culinary Arts and in Pastry Arts. Most days she enjoys tasting the knowledge from these degrees but is presently back to leading teams at TIAA in the Digital and Customer Experience group.

Her true heart is her two wonderful children, a daughter in academia and a son in technology, as well as her partner. Raised with the encouragement from her father that she could do anything, Joy loves adventure, endurance cycling, cuisine, and spending time with family and friends. A self-proclaimed news junkie contributes to Joy’s focus on learning new things.

One of her favorite sayings is “you can’t ride the waves if you stay on the beach.” This translates into her advice for other WIF members to raise your hand and get involved. The water is fantastic.
