Member Spotlight: Paula Moss
By Kate Jostworth
Let’s meet Paula Moss whose view on how to use committees to expand your horizons might just inspire you for the committee selections for next year.
Can you provide a brief background on yourself for those who do not know you? For my paying job, I work for CBRE as a broker leasing office buildings for institutional owners. On the personal front, I am a wife, a do-gooder, a most-favorite aunt, a dog mom, a tennis fanatic, and a podcast lover.
What makes our purpose or mission meaningful to you? What I love about WIF is that collectively, we can make game-changing impacts on our community. It allows me to connect and learn from women like me who believe that investing in making our community better is a responsibility and one that we do with passion and compassion.
What energizes/ motivates you? Whenever I need to get pumped up or am down, I listen to the Candide Overture by Leonard Bernstein at decibel level 200. That likely makes me a nerd, but it makes me happy, which is the most important thing.
What are you the most excited about for the 20th anniversary year? Seeing what is new to come we are willing to grow and change! One thing that sets WIF apart is that we never say, “That’s how we have always done it”.
Advice to make the most out of your Women’s Impact Fund membership? If you have not yet experienced working on the grants committee, I suggest you try this, especially for a sector that is out of your comfort zone. My eyes have been opened to great organizations serving our community as well as giving me a more well-rounded approach to philanthropy.
What is your favorite restaurant or activity in Charlotte? Do you mean I must pick? I am a regular at Mama Ricottas because they have the best take-out menu. If you are looking for some variety, try Lang Van (Vietnamese), it is delicious!
