$50,000 to contribute to the ongoing work of putting a plastics lab into its new Innovation Barn for the purpose of diverting plastics from the landfill and using them to create new products. Envision sourced machinery that could use take-out plastic containers and turn them into filaments. Those filaments, used in 3D printers, now make personal protection equipment (PPE), specifically the plastic pieces of the face shield, and guards for the ears and chin. Envision Charlotte is a public-private collaborative focused on leading Charlotte’s progress as a global Smart City through innovation, environment sustainability, and positive community impact.
