Trees Charlotte

2020
$25,000 to amplify efforts to focus primarily on tree-equity especially in underserved communities across the region. In just seven years, 32,000 newly planted trees provided cleaner air and water, shade and wind protection, beauty, and positive mental health in impacted neighborhoods. Education efforts continue with Charlotte schools and Tree Champions (teachers) who explain to students the health benefits of trees and how trees produce a health environment where they live and play. The organization is also working to plant orchards in food deserts and, in conjunction with Mecklenburg County Health, pinpointing communities with the greatest need.
