YWCA CENTRAL CAROLINAS

2007
$86,000 for the Families Together program, a YWCA transitional housing program designed to help homeless families rebuild their lives. In the first five years, 60 families were served by this program, and all 58 families that the YWCA has kept up with are still in permanent housing. YWCA has since collaborated with Inlivian, which allows them to administer federal housing funds to supplement each family’s rent and guarantees an individual Section 8 Voucher for participants upon successful graduation. The Families Together program has maintained its goals for participating families: securing permanent housing upon program exit, earning adequate income and maintaining savings to sustain permanent housing, strengthening family systems, and improving participants’ sense of self-worth.
