WIF member and past Board Chair Deborah Majewski is beginning her second term as a Director on the board of Philanos. She recently sat down with us to share more.

Q: What is Philanos?

A: Philanos is a network of women’s giving groups. It provides opportunities for connection, learning, and sharing for its 80+ member groups (i.e. affiliates). The mission is to accelerate women’s philanthropic giving by providing affiliates the resources they need to impact their communities.

Q: What are the benefits of belonging to Philanos?

A: Philanos is a source of information about women’s collective giving and associated best practices. It offers monthly webinars, facilitated affinity groups, an online resource library, discussion forums, and a national conference (PowerUP! 2023).

Q: Is WIF a member of Philanos?
A:
Yes, and this means all WIF members have access to the resources noted above. If you want to be added to Philanos email communications subscribe here.

Q: Beyond serving on the board, can I get involved in Philanos’ leadership?
A:
Absolutely. With the exception of the Nominating Committee which you must be nominated to serve on, all other committees are open for volunteer participation. Committees include Affiliate Engagement, Communication, Development, Education, Finance, and Technology.

Q: Tell us more about the national conference.
A: Philanos’ national conference PowerUP! is back after a pandemic-related hiatus and will be held in Baltimore, from November 5 – 7, 2023. If you haven’t had the opportunity to participate in a Philanos conference (the 2015 conference was held in Charlotte), it’s a great opportunity to learn best practices and to network with 400+ attendees who believe in the power of women’s collective giving to create impact in local communities. The theme of this year’s conference is collaboration. Early registration is available now.
